Kallista
Versatile Ergonomics for a Sustainable Future
The Kallista is the latest Virtual Daylight® fitting from Clearvision designed to meet the key demands of the modern workplace:
- The ergonomics of daylight type lighting that research suggests improves
attention and cognitive ability at work (see opposite)
- Good lateral light distribution to provide high wall and ceiling illumination in
the spirit of CIBSE LG7
- High efficiency options (LOR up 79%) that surpass both Part L and ETL
(Carbon Trust) requirements
- An environmental approach to design that considers future refurbishment to
minimise waste, extend the life of the fitting and to ease recycling
The look of the Kallista is very modern, with a clean curved lens design and subtle translucent end caps. The lens/end caps only extend 13mm below the ceiling line making the fitting much less visually intrusive when viewed across larger spaces. The curvature and optics of the lens are used to bend light up onto the walls and higher surfaces, creating a bright airy feel.

Ergonomics
The Kallista is based on the ideas of Virtual Daylight®, which state that working performance is improved by giving artificial light as many of the characteristics of daylight as possible. There is recognised independent
research evidence that whiter light is mentally
stimulating and supports natural human biology for
improved staff well-being.
The key to this evidence is the effectiveness of
artificial light in suppressing the sleep hormone
Melatonin in the manner of natural daylight.
Please contact our technical department for more information.
Versatile usage
The look and performance of the Kallista is versatile
because it has interchangeable lenses (shown above)
which can be changed by unskilled maintenance
operatives.
The 214/24 version has an intelligent ballast that
allows the fitting to produce either 2500 or 4000
lumens just by changing the lamps. A four lamp version
(5000/8000 lumens) is also available. The idea behind
this versatile design is that space use is always
changing.
The lighting should be able to reflect these changes
with simplicity and at little cost.

Lens Options
Q45 Fisheye (Code –Q)
The Q45 has a radial MQC layer and diffuse polyester co-polymer layer. The result is a 3D fisheye appearance with wide distribution. It combines meeting modern lighting distribution guidance with a strong aesthetic. Suited to areas where the visual feature of the lighting is important.

Optika 2 Polariser (Code –P)
The Optika is based on VDT polarising technology (GB patent 2330217B). The curved Optika II is a good
glare reducer with an even spread of light. Recommended for prestige areas and those requiring
high visual acuity.

MTX Microprismatic (Code –M)
The MTX lens has two sets of linear microprisms which combine high output with wide distribution. The MTX offers good efficiency and an excellent spread of light for open plan space.

GRID lens (Code –G)
The GRID lens has a polymeric aluminium grid on an acrylic layer and a diffuse polyester co-polymer layer. The two layers combine to provide an appearance like an open metal mesh but with superior light transmission and a wipe-clean surface. Suited to areas with lower light levels where visual comfort is the prime requirement.

Sustainability
The design of the Kallista is based on sustainable principles. These combine low energy lamps and gear with recyclable and replaceable component parts. The choice of lens options and lamp configurations
provides the flexibility to match power to need.
This is key to reducing waste and lowering cost of ownership.
The following parts are removable and replaceable with the fitting in the ceiling:
- Lens
- Reflector wings
- Geartray/ballast
- Lamps/lampholders
All that is left is a bodyframe, allowing the whole fitting to be refurbished, quickly and simply, minimising both waste and cost.
